The Estate

Main Ridge Estate was established in 1975 by Rosalie and Nat White in William Road, Red Hill. The 3 ha. vineyard was planted, over a number of years, with the classic varieties of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

From the outset the aim has been to make unique wines of the highest possible quality by limiting production to grapes grown on the Estate. Yields are held to very low levels of less than 5 tonnes/ha. (2 tons/acre) and traditional winemaking techniques are used to create wines of great elegance and complexity.

Nat, formerly a civil engineer, undertook formal training in viticulture and oenology by completing the Bachelor of Applied Science (Wine Science) at Charles Sturt University.

The first vintage in 1980 was processed in the newly constructed winery, the first commercial winery to be established on the Mornington Peninsula.

Wines are distributed by mail order and to selected restaurants throughout Australia. Small quantities are exported to Britain and Singapore.

The cellar door is open daily for tasting and sales. 12pm - 4pm midweek and 12pm - 5pm weekends.

Sunday lunch is served throughout the year. The menu is a la carte focusing on local specialties and produce from the Estate's extensive organic garden.
